Your new challenge
As a Traffic Engineer you work on the traffic safety and accessibility of the municipality of Son & Breugel, for example bicycle projects, Ekkersrijt and the Brainport region. You will work in the team Projects, Implementation, Management and Policy. Our team consists of 12 colleagues. Son & Breugel is a lively, green, Brabant municipality with over 17,000 inhabitants. From our new office building in the center we work with about 80 colleagues.
These will be your duties
- Formulate or test design assumptions.
- Consulting civil engineering and spatial projects.
- Create tactical/operational policies such as: parking metrics, charging station policy, allocation of disabled parking spaces.
- Consultation with residents and businesses regarding traffic issues.
- Provide instructions to Team Neighborhood Management, project management and third parties such as contractors/developers, among others.
- Review and/or prepare traffic and detour plans.
- Assign disabled parking spaces.
- Preparing and making traffic decisions.
- Consulting exceptional transport (assessing suitability of roads).
- Count points traffic intensities and speeds.
- Rotation and communication speed displays.
- Handle reports and complaints related to traffic.

"A traffic engineering background obtained from a relevant college education or work experience in traffic is most important in this position. The focus is on the operational level. That doesn't mean you can't take your chance to contribute at a strategic level, for example, to the mobility plan. Collaboration is important in this position because you work in project groups and have a lot of contact with residents and companies. Traffic affects the daily lives of all residents. This requires communication skills, you oversee the situation and know better than anyone what communication style is appropriate. Sometimes emotions run high, but you remain calm. Can you come up with innovative solutions when it comes to reports and requests from residents and policy? We are very curious about your vision on this. As a team we find it important that you fit within our team, and vice versa of course!"
The following is what you can expect from us
- A salary of up to €4,208 gross per month based on a 36-hour work week (salary level April 1, 2022) depending on your education and experience.
- If your performance is excellent, we will give you a performance allowance.
- A freely spendable Individual Choice Budget of 17.05% which includes direct pay, purchase of additional leave, commuting exchange or the tax-friendly purchase of a bicycle.
- A temporary employment contract for the duration of 1 year. With good performance, it will become an employment contract for an indefinite period.
- Flexible working hours with the opportunity to work (partially) from home.
- Upon starting in your position, you will receive a Chromebook and a cell phone.
