Preventing requests for assistance in corona crisis

Dienst Dommelvallei, together with the municipality of Nuenen, the municipality of Son en Breugel and social work company WSD, among others, has developed an approach for self-employed entrepreneurs who have no, or less, work due to the corona crisis. The goal is to guide these entrepreneurs in continuing the business or to look together for salaried work so that they do not end up on welfare.

Tozo arrangement

Self-employed entrepreneurs who have run into financial difficulties could claim the Tozo scheme (Temporary Bridging Scheme for Self-Employed Entrepreneurs). Starting in June, a 2ndTozo scheme was opened for the period until October. If this scheme ceases to exist, entrepreneurs who still have insufficient income at the end of the scheme may enter municipal assistance.

Staying at work

Alderman van Liempd of the municipality of Son and Breugel on behalf of the 4 municipalities: "Of course we want people to stay at work and prevent them from ending up on welfare because of this corona crisis. That is why I am proud that we, together with our neighboring municipalities, Dienst Dommelvallei and WSD, have developed this approach in a short period of time, in which we offer customized assistance to the entrepreneur in need. A unique achievement because precisely at this time our municipal services are under enormous pressure due to the many applications for income support."

Personal guidance

Employees of the municipalities will talk to the affected entrepreneurs about the future. Together, they will look at what guidance is needed in the process. With this customized solution, municipalities hope to prevent an increase in the number of assistance applications. Entrepreneurs can apply for the new Tozo scheme via the website of the participating municipalities. They will then be approached for the approach.
