Looking back & forward

In preparing the budget, financial statements and the management report, we look at:

• Back to last year
• Looking ahead to next year
• Back and forward in the current year

This is not as simple as it seems.

Preparations

Months of preparations preceded this. For example, we have:

• Created schedules and organized meetings
• Financial calculations made
• Written texts with 20 people about (financial) deviations and progress of projects
• 3 weeks of accountant questions answered
• Had several occasions of alignment in the MT
• Consulted with municipalities and administrators

Budget 2022

Budget 2022 sets the policy objectives for 2022. This will also include a budget that will be made available to achieve the objectives. It is important here that all 3 municipalities agree on what we want to achieve together.

Financial Statements 2020

In the 2020 financial statements, we look at whether the policy objectives from the 2020 budget were achieved. In addition, we look at whether this has been achieved with the resources made available for this purpose in the 2020 budget.

Significant deviations are reported so that it is clear to the General Board why an objective was or was not achieved and whether it was within the available budget.

1st Board Report 2021

In the^1st Administrative Report 2021, we report on the results of the first 4 months of the current fiscal year. It looks at whether expenditures and revenues are going as expected (as set in the 2021 budget). So at that point, about 1/3 of the available annual budget would have been spent.
Everyone managing a budget is asked to check if this is correct. If more or less expenses are expected, an explanation must be provided.
